SPARKY LOST HIS FIRST PUPPY TOOTH & KATIE HAS INFECTION
Hey Pals,
It's me Sparky! I lost my very first puppy toofer this morning! My sissy Katie knocked the loose toofer out for me while we were wrestling. Check it out:
Poor Katie had to go to the vet-pire yesterday. Mama noticed blood in her urine so off to the vet they went, left me all alone with the catsies.
It's strange she got infection, she's not even 2 years old yet. So they did an x-ray, ruled out bladder stones, whew! Then they tooth a big needle and poked it through her belly into the bladder to draw clean urine. The vet said Katie was good as gold for them, held very still and didn't even whimper or cry! She's such a good girl.
The tests showed very very mild infection, so they did a culture over night. Only a little bacteria grew, so she is staying on the antibiotic that they prescribed for her yesterday. She did have high alkaline for her urine. So if the infection doesn't clear up, or does clear up and come right back, then they will do blood tests. We think she might have higher alkaline cause she doesn't really drink enough water. So now Mama is going to add water to her kibble for awhile. You can also give a dog Vitamin C to help make the urine more acidic. We don't want her urine to stay alkaline because this can cause bladder stones possibly. And we don't want those!
Last night our catsie Sylvester decided to nurse Katie back to good health. He snuggled with her to watch tv and even groomed her hair for her. He's such a lover boy!

READY FOR HALLOWEEN & NEW FOXY-BEAR
Hey Pals,
One more week and it will be Halloween! Scaaaaaaaaaaaaweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
But we're all ready. Mama bought some baby clothes at a garage sale very very cheap and made them into costumes for us. She had to do some cutting and sewing, but the costumes turned out pretty well.

Sparky isn't too keen on having clothes put on him yet, but he's learning. Not bad for only 16 weeks old.
His loose bottom toofer is still hanging on, but should fall out within the next few days. It sticks out funny, hehehehe! Once that one falls, more will follow!
No costumes for the catsies this year. Mama is too busy making her Mutton Hollow Critters to sell and finding antique wheelies for people. She posted photos of the first Foxy-Bear on Facebook yesterday, and it's already sold. But don't worry, you can order your own custom Foxy-Bear or Aire-Bear. Now don't forget that Mama also makes small stuffed Fox Terriers, Airedales, Lakelands, Poodles and lots of Teddy Bears in all colors and styles. We make her sew her fingers to the bone to keep us in food and treats, arf, arf, arf, woof, woof, woof! She hand sews all of the critters, no sewing machine is used. All are made with German Mohair, German Glass Eyes, heavy duty thread. So be sure to order yours now in time for Christmas prezzies! ( we have quite a few complete Teddy Bears for sale! ) And don't forget that she cleans, repairs and restores antique stuffies too.

CEDAR WAXWINGS & FALL COLOR
Hey Pals,
So far this Fall the trees haven't had much color around our area. We had frost several times before the leaves turned color, so then they fell off of the trees before turning to nice colors. Here is a shot of the grasses and things around our ponds:
This is Mama's Angel Blush Hydrangea bush, it always turns pretty colors. The photo was taken a few weeks ago:

All of our Honeysuckle bushes have TONS of red berries on them, along with all of our flowering crabapple trees. So the Cedar Waxwing birds have been hanging around our land the last week. Normally these birds come through here in the Spring and then back through in Fall on their way to more southern states for Winter. But some parts of Iowa have the birds stay year round, so Mama is thinking since we have so many berries on our land this year, maybe the birds will stay for the Winter. We must have several thousand of the birds hanging around our bushes now.
We took a few photos of them today high up in the trees:
We sure hope they stay all of the time. You can actually get fairly close to these birds. When we do walkies along our trails through the bushes, we can get within 5 feet of the birds before they fly off to another bush. They stay in flocks of several hundred birds in a group and they sure love getting drinks in our ponds.

SPARKY LOVES KATIE!
Hey Pals,
My new brudder sure does luv me. We wrestle all of the time and have so much fun. He is 15 weeks old today.
Here we are sharing kissies:
Sparky was also telling me some secrets today, but I can't tell you what they were, tee hee!
Now Hootie was up in her cat tree and heard our secrets, but she's not talkin' either:
Oh yeah, Sparky has a loose bottom toofer! I'll sure be glad when those puppy teeth fall out.

IT'S WHEELY WEDNESDAY!
Hey Pals,
It's Wheely Wednesday and we wanted to show you the latest wheels to leave the Teddy Bear Facelifts spa. This wheelie gal/guy left for it's new home:
The Wheely is just like our Wheely Roxy! See the two together below:
They were made by the Chiltern company many years ago. We also had this cute little foxy leave:
It is a child's hand muff. Very unusual and hard to find. And some of you have already seen the newest Mutton Hollow Critter on Facebook, the 'Aire-Bear' that Mama sold.
She's currently making the 'Foxy-Bear' version (Wire Fox Terrier) right now. It will be complete very soon. If anyone is interested in ordering one, please send us an email to: teddybearfacelifts@yahoo.com
Many of the antique wheelies and stuffies that Mama fixes and sells never make it to her website. They are sold right away. If you are ever looking for a particular item, let us know and Mama can sometimes find what you are looking for.
Papa is going to be cleaning up some of the pond plants for winter tomorrow. We are draining the largest pond down right now to a low level, about 2 feet deep. It's 5 feet deep total, but we need to leave the water deep enough for the koi to swim in comfortably while Papa works in there. Then we'll fill it back up with fresh well water. The koi will be happy!

STICKS AND NUT SHELLS AND LEAVES OH MY!
Hey Pals,
Tomorrow my brudder Sparky is 14 weeks old, wooohoooooo! He is growing fast. He loves to run in the dry leaves outside. Our weather has warmed up here in Iowa, but not for long. Many of the tree leaves are on the ground now so we like to romp and play in them. We had severe high winds this week so the weather service posted warnings about crop fires. The farmers have been busy picking the soybeans out here across from us. Sparks from farm equipment can easily start the dry crops on fire and if they do, the high winds can spread the fire very quickly. So some farmers have stopped harvesting for now.
Mama took some photos of Sparky today while we were playing outside. He is so long and lanky right now, long legs and a long face, but sooooooo cute!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGEL BUTCHY!
Hey Pals,
Today is a sad day. Our Angel Butchy would have turned 11 years old today. We miss him so much.........
We've been trying to keep Mama busy today so she doesn't cry so much. Ruby had to be at the vet at 7:15 this morning to get her toofers cleaned. All of her teeth look very good and now they are all clean again.
Then this afternoon Sparky got his shots and brought Ruby home. Sparky gained 5 oz. since his visit 3 weeks ago, so now he weighs 6 lbs. 6 oz. Mama thought for sure he gained more then that, he is so much taller now. Sparky gets more shots in 3 weeks and Sylvester gets to go with him to get his yearly shots.
Just wait til Sparky finds out that in December he will be neutered, hehehehe! No more boy bits for him.
Mama says I'm nuts. I keep licking and sniffing Ruby's mouth and toofers. The vet must have used some good smelling toothpaste on her, hahaha!

SPARKY WATCHING TV & READY FOR FOOTBALL
Hey Pals,
We have figured out that Sparky likes to watch tv at night with Mama. He loves hearing different sounds on the tv speakers. He also likes to snuggle with our cat Scuby on the couch with Mama. They both lay on Mama's stomach and legs. We weren't able to get a picture of that yet since the camera was far from Mama and if she got up, Sparky & Scuby would move and the picture scene lost. But here are some photos of Sparky on the couch watching tv:
