It's me Sparky! I lost my very first puppy toofer this morning! My sissy Katie knocked the loose toofer out for me while we were wrestling. Check it out:
Poor Katie had to go to the vet-pire yesterday. Mama noticed blood in her urine so off to the vet they went, left me all alone with the catsies.
It's strange she got infection, she's not even 2 years old yet. So they did an x-ray, ruled out bladder stones, whew! Then they tooth a big needle and poked it through her belly into the bladder to draw clean urine. The vet said Katie was good as gold for them, held very still and didn't even whimper or cry! She's such a good girl.
The tests showed very very mild infection, so they did a culture over night. Only a little bacteria grew, so she is staying on the antibiotic that they prescribed for her yesterday. She did have high alkaline for her urine. So if the infection doesn't clear up, or does clear up and come right back, then they will do blood tests. We think she might have higher alkaline cause she doesn't really drink enough water. So now Mama is going to add water to her kibble for awhile. You can also give a dog Vitamin C to help make the urine more acidic. We don't want her urine to stay alkaline because this can cause bladder stones possibly. And we don't want those!
Last night our catsie Sylvester decided to nurse Katie back to good health. He snuggled with her to watch tv and even groomed her hair for her. He's such a lover boy!

We know that trick about water in the kibble! We do it for Teka Toy and she has not had an infection in almost three years! Knock on woods! We hope it works as good for Miss Katie. Teka toy says those infections are NASTY!
Muzzer also says that she can smell it when Teka starts to turn into an infection...it makes her (Teka) smell like anchovies when she licks to clean herself. When that happens, muzzer will help Teka clean up for a couple of days, using those Vagisil wipes that we also use on my footses to keep me from licking.
Just a few thoughts, since your Mama has helped us so much.

My Raja had frequent urinary infections. The vet put her on a special kibble and hormone therapy. That helped a great deal. Hope Miss Katie feels better soon.

What a cute little baby toofie! Mom have some of mine in a little vial - I had to go to the vet to get out my baby canines. Feel better soon, Katie!

Hope Katie is feeling better and the vet could fix her up as good as new. As for the toothie. Did the tooth fairy come and if so what was left?
Awww..poor Katie. We have our pawscrossed here that her horrid infection is soon all gone!
