FROSTY DAYS!

Hey Pals,

We're finally digging out from our snow storm late last week. It snowed around 11 inches total here in Janesville. There is so much snow cover on the ground now that the ground temperature is warming up. We have fog in the mornings and everything is covered with pretty frost.

We took some pictures to show you. By mid day, the sun comes out and the frost falls off of the trees. So we take the photos early in the morning.

Check out this cool spidey-web:

With the deep snow covering the ice on the ponds, the water has warmed up a bit. So now the air hole is open again. Can you see the bambi tracks leading to the water hole?

Check out these bambi trails:

The deer have trails all over our land now. Usually after a big snow storm they curl up and sleep in the deep snow out of the winds for a few days. Then they get up and start roaming for food again.

Here is the little Snow Queen Katie:

She just can't get enough of this white stuff. She burrows down into the deep snow every time we go outside.

She also eats as much snow as she can pack in and then she does a HOOOOOOGE BURP!

HAPPY GOTCHA DAY HOOTIE!

Hey Pals,

We can hardly believe it's our girl Hootie's 1st Gotcha Day! She has been with us a whole year now since we rescued her from the wild last Christmas Day.

She went from this 4 1/2 lb. sickly girl:

To a boootiful 8 lb. 14 oz. girl!

Mama gave Hootie her first can of tuna on Thanksgiving Day 2009. She worked at taming Hootie up to Christmas, feeding her and making her beds in the garage to keep her warm.

At Christmas we brought her inside to see how she would do and we knew right away she would never want to be outdoors again.

Happy Gotcha Day Hootie!! We love you!!

FUN IN THE SNOW!

Hey Pals,

It looks like it's going to be a very white Christmas this year in Iowa. The other day we received about 6 more inches of snow and in a few hours, we have another storm starting. We're supposed to get another 4-7 inches of the fluffy stuff.

We had Mama take some photos of us the other day when the snow started to fall. We didn't get very many cause the snow started falling so hard that the camera was getting very wet. But here are a few. Katie just loves this stuff.

Katie: I think I need more snow on my face...................

Oh boy, I saw a bambi running in the woods................

There's another one this way Katie..................

Butchy: Errrr, Mama, can we go in, I'm turning into a live snowcone........

Rut roh, Katie found a spot to dig. She's hoping to catch a mousie.........

A leaf, is that all???

I just know something smelly is down there........................

Mama had to make Katie come into the house. She would rather dig out in the snow than be toasty warm inside of the house.

As you can see below, the ponds are buried in snow too. The bambi deer keep digging down into the snow trying to find the water.

We hope everyone is having fun preparing for the holiday festivities for the next few days.

CURRENT PET FOOD RECALLS

Hey Pals,

Some of you might not know there are some pet food recalls again. We wanted to share the information so that everyone can be informed. Please read the info below:

********************************************************************************

On December 18th, 2010, Kroger issued an official recall of many of its pet food products which are sold under a variety of brand names.

Why Is Kroger Issuing This Recall?

According to current information, Kroger initiated this recall due to the possibility that the recalled formulas were contaminated with Aflatoxin.

What is Aflatoxin?

Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring toxin that is produced by a type of fungus. Aflatoxin may be present in grains while they are waiting to be processed into pet food products. Some of the crops that are routinely affected by aflatoxin include sorghum, rice, wheat, soybeans, corn and millet. Aflatoxins are one of the most carcinogenic substances known to scientists today.

What Are the Symptoms of Aflatoxin in my Pet?

Kroger has stated that there are a variety of symptoms that could signal that a pet has eaten food contaminated with aflatoxin.

The symptoms are:

Lethargy/Sluggishness
Yellowish Eyes
Yellowish Gums
Lack of Interest in Food
Bloody Diarrhea
Severe Diarrhea

If your pet has any of these symptoms, you should contact your veterinarian immediately to schedule an emergency appointment. Aflatoxin can potentially cause serious health complications and may sometimes be fatal to pets.

CAT TREE REVIEW AND SNOOZIN' SUNDAY

Hey Pals,

This is Hootie, Butchy is letting me purr today so that I can tell you about our latest cat tree. CSN Stores was kind enough to let us pick out an item to review and Mama picked out a nice cat tree for us catsies. Placing the order was quick and simple.

This is the item: Go Pet Club 39.5" Cat Tree in Beige Faux Fur

This item has FREE SHIPPING and it shipped very quickly. Only took about 3 days to get here.

Our Wheely Kids were very interested in the box when Mama brought it up to the loft for opening.

This cat tree was from the company called Go Pet Club. The instructions were very clear and it was super easy to put together. It took less then 30 minutes and it was up and ready for cat inspection.

Now this is NO LIE. I Hootie, jumped up in the tree as soon as Mama placed it where it was going to sit and I stayed in the tree for over 4 hours!

There is also a hanging toy, you can see the white string by my back in the photo. It has a white fuzzy animal for us cats to play with and I must say, I LOVES IT! I go bonkers batting that thing around. I hop and jump around the tree and it doesn't tip or fall over at all.

Here is Ruby in the tree too:

She seems to like the top perches the best and I like the middle one best.

Thanks CSN Stores, we love our new cat tree!! Now remember, they sell ALL kinds of items for your home, pets, etc. So if you still have some presents to buy for the holidays, be sure to check them out.

We're still in the FROZEN mode here in Iowa. Right now it's 14 degrees below zero! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

So we have the ol' fireplace going strong and we'll be snoozin' most of the day. Here is Katie and Ruby curled up together:

Here is Sylvester snoozin' in a sun spot he found in the kitchen:

Here is Zeek, he likes to snooze in one of the cat beds that Mama made for us:

I think I'll go take a snooze now...............................

SNOW AND MORE SNOW!

Hey Pals,

Well, with all of the snow we already have:

We are getting more right now. We could get 3-6 more inches today and tonight. That means Papa will have to shovel some paths for us again so we can have walkies. When you have over 4 1/2 acres of land, that's a lot of snow! Of course Papa only shovels several short paths for us so we can get to our 300 foot long driveway. The farmer plows it for us, so we can walk on that too.

Even the water hole on the large pond is frozen over right now with the extremely cold weather.

The deer will dig the hole open sometimes trying to get to the water for drinking.

This past weekend I picked up some of our pals with my plane so they could come play in the snow with us. I took my purple plane, figured it would show up in the snow much better. The storm was pretty nasty when I got to PA and NY.

I picked up Asta, Lacie, Scruffy, BabyStan, Gussie, Teka, Jake and Miss Fergi.

Here is Asta:

I Butchy made sure the snow was nice and tasty for everyone. Especially since Lacie was going to make her famous carob snowcones.

Mama made sure the fireplace was nice and hot for us so that when we came in from playing we could warm up fast!

Here is Lacie, she was sledding out behind the house near the woods:

Katie likes to stick her snoot way down into the snow looking for mice!

We also brought along Asta's snowmobile and she was out riding in the open farm field:

Scruffy and BabyStan kept falling off of the snowmobile, hahahaha!

As for the catsies, well, they just lounged around the warm house. Here is Zeek, he is really enjoying his new forever home:

He told Gussie to bring Miss Eartha Kitteh along with them next time!

Time to go out and investigate the new snow we are getting.
