We wanted to tell you about our cool new bowls we received from Long Tail Pet Products.
They are called the DogPause Bowls:

Hmmmm, I think I like the blue one best, Snickers can have the red one since we get to keep both bowls.
The DogPause Bowls help to slow down fast eaters like me Butchy! Yep, I can truly say it has worked for me. Snickers doesn't eat quite as fast as me, but it has slowed her down too.
The DogPause dog bowl works to slow down the pace of eating and aid with portion control in the following ways:
- Divides the bowl into 4 feeding zones
- Each feeding zone is 1/2 cup in capacity and designed to "block" the dog from putting his full snout into the bowl; this slows down eating pace as your dog needs to use his tongue for each bite
- After your dog finishes each zone, he must re-position himself for the next zone
- The bowl is designed to slide a little on the floor, further slowing down the dog as he needs to re-position for each bite
I must add that Snickers & I both have to squirm around to get into all four sections. Mama tried to time me Butchy while I was eating out of the bowl the first few times. When eating out of my old bowl, it takes me about 60 seconds to eat my food. With my new DogPause bowl, it takes about 5 minutes, no kidding!! Mama was thrilled that the new bowl made us eat slower.
The only thing she found that she did not like about the bowls, is that when we get our pumpkin & yogurt on top of our kibble for lunch time feeding, errrrr, ummmmmm, our moustaches get just covered with orange pumpkin, hehehehe! Snickers absolutely refused to let Mama post a picture of her with an orange moustache, sorry. So for wet foods, the bowls might not work as neatly for longer hair faced dogs. Shorthair breeds should have no problems eating wet foods in these bowls.
So if your dog snarfs food down in no time flat, these are the bowls for you!

OK...firstest of all...I'd love to come sleddin' my sweet Butchy!! I'll bring the hot carob!! And whipped creme! Do you have hills in Iowa? We have tons of hills here but NO SNOW...yet!
Second...Bert climbed on our Christmas tree...he loves it up there...he has lots of wire foxies to keep him company, silly stuffie...he's pinin' for Gert...poor boy...we'll bring him sleddin' too...
Third...Big Sissie's FAV pressie was her cat bed!!!!! SHE LOVES IT! She can't wait to see the kitties in it...we'll send ya pics of them!

Those bowls are a good idea. I'm the slowest eater in this household. I really take my time and chew each piece very well.

hi Butchy and Snickers, we had a couple of those bowls that we gave away on our blog, but you kiddos didn't ask us for one. otherwise we could have sent them to you. but you have your own, so that's good. we're glad you like them.
we aren't fast eaters, so they didn't do much for us, other than frustrate us. we're glad that they work for you though, cuz we all know that eating too fast can be a problem.

Mitch has a brake fast bowl that's very similar to the dog pause bowl. It didn't slow him down a whole five minutes though! Wow! Poor Butchy! hehehehe

We chew our food thoroughly so won't be getting one of those bowls. Phew. Glad they work for you both, saves getting the hiccups!
