PLUMBING FUN

Hey Pals,
What a long boring Saturday we have had & half of today. This is all we have been doing since Mama & Papa were working on the plumbing problem:

This is Snickers & Ruby:

And this is me Butchy:

We can happily say that the plumbing part of the mess is done!!! Unless a leak crops up in the next few days. Please cross your paws for us that nothing leaks!!! The first thing Mama & Papa did yesterday was to install shut off valves on the water lines going to the shower. Here are the valves soldered onto the pipes:

So far so good. Nothing leaked on these. So then on to the plumbing lines behind the shower.

There were tons of joints to solder, lots of pipe to cut, etc. plus 4 trips to the hardware store! We're sure lots of hoomans can relate to that situation, hehehehe. Plus to install the new shower handle faucet & shower head stuff. Here are some pictures of the pipes done late last night:

Then the dreaded thing happened about midnight last night. This stoooopid threaded nut that you don't even need to solder started leaking:

And of course you just can't take the nut off since the pipes connected to it are soldered. So you have to cut things off & redo lots of piping AGAIN!!!

So this morning Mama & Papa started in again on the mess. FINALLY the finished result:

Some of you are probably wondering why there is aluminum foil hanging up. Well that's so you don't burn down the entire house using the torch, hehehehe! Plus Mama held an old aluminum pizza pan behind the torch fire too since the fiberglass shower is right behind the pipes. And she put foil on the wood floor below the area too.

Now they have the rest of the mess to repair. Some of the ceramic floor tiles have to be replaced that got wrecked. They did get the old cement & grout chipped off already. Then they have to replace the drywall, tape & mud that & then paint before the pantry can get pushed back into it's space then the trim around the pantry needs to be put back in place. Whew! Then all of the food that's sitting in our sunroom can be put back into the pantry. Hmmmmm, except there is much less food now since the WHEELIES got into it earlier in the week. Those darn Wheely Kids!

Speaking of food, we're kinda hungry. We haven't had any snackies today. We better go help Mama figure out what to make for supper.

Wirey Hugs!
Butchy, Snickers & Ruby

hi kiddos, we know it's boring when our humans are working on stuff. your parents are really good at fixing things though. our mom can't fix anything so then she has these expert fixit people come over and she pays them all of the money that she saved for our treats and still things don't get fixed very good. poor us.

we sure are impressed how you kiddos are with Ruby. how did you know to not chase her? we always want to chase cats.

woofs.

You mean after all that soldering she did, your mama still has to cook dinner? We think our mom would have ordered a pizza or something! We hope you still have some food left when the wheelies get done with it!

I recognize the look on your papa's face. The other night my Master was out and when Momma came home the radiator in my living room addition was squirting out water! I hate those plumbing problems.

Yeah, I know about the tinfoil too. Now are they done playing with the plumbing so they can spend time with you guys?

Slobbers,

Mom says plumbing problems are the worst! You would think that working with water would be a nice clean job but with that nasty no-corrode flux gunk it gets everything all grimy!
Your job looks great! Paws are crossed that it stays that way forever!

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

OH NO!! That's horrible they had to redo stuff!! Mom and Dad made 4 trips to the hardware store this week, too only they - I mean Dad was doing electrical stuff in his new shop and Mom goes along to carry stuff while Dad wanders around the store figuring out what he needs.
Hope things get back to normal soon!!!

Well thank DOG that mess is over with. The humans are so weird about having to shower everyday, otherwise, that thing wouldn't even be an issue. I hope things are back to normal soon!

ps okokok mom says she used to cook when she had a family at home. She just doesn't see much point in doing it for one. We offered to eat whatever she cooks!!!
