The Koi Whisperer was busy here this morning. She decided it was time for the 6 new young koi to be released into the huge outdoor pond. They haven't been sick at all since she brought them home so it should be safe to let them be with the other fishies. The other big task was assigning the names to them. First The Koi Whisperer tries to see if she can tell if the koi are male or female. It's very hard to tell with the koi so young. Then she tries to pick one of our pals names that seems to fit that fish. So here are the 6 youngin's:

We still have some koi in the big pond that were born out there last year that we decided to keep. So we'll be assigning names to those when we can get good pictures of them. For some reason we don't have very many baby koi in the pond this year. We think those darn bullfrogs are gorging themselves on the babies. So we'll have to wait til next spring to see how many babies survive. They should be big enough by then to tell them apart & name them. So don't worry, if you signed up to have a koi named after you, we still have our list & keep it updated all of the time. Better go feed the fishies again, hehehehe.Wirey Hugs!

Wow! Baby koi! So cool...=) And they have names too! I wonder if I can sign up for a baby koi to be named after me...=P But then,it would be kind of weird to call a koi Scottie,wouldn't it? haha!

Well we can not even begin to tell you how honored we are.......Archie has been going around town telling everyone he is a koi...and when we were at the arboretum and he was in his cowboy hat and boots(fighting coyote) well,I can not even begin to tell you..... Those fishies are sooo enticing! I totally wanna play with them! Maybe nose 'em a bit. I think you ought to name one of the fish Mr. T...of course the finkiest one that has like an odd shaped head or something. I dunno...just a thought!

The new koi are just beautiful. I agree with Eric, you really did a good job matching them up with their namesakes. If you ever get a scruffy little koi, just maybe could you name him "Petey?"

My brother and I used to admire the koi at the botanical gardens in Texas. They were almost as big as me!
What lovely fishies. Agatha reminds my mom of a wee fishy she used to have named Beret. I hope they love the big pond!
we really like the way the names fit the fishies. Scruffy and Pearl are really cool names for those particular koi. we think they are going to like the pond. we just hope Maggie doesn't jump out!
