The vet finally called Mama today with my blood test results. I had my teefies cleaned last week & they did a blood workup on me & Mama also asked them to do a full Thyroid Panel too.
I guess I couldn't let Snickers have something that I didn't, I now have Hypothyroidism too!
So I started taking Soloxine today, just like Snickers. But I'm starting on a lower dose and then I get my blood rechecked in one month to see how things are going with the thyroid. I'm now seven years old and Mama thinks it started last winter possibly. She had wondered about my thyroid cause I gained a few pounds last winter & she hasn't been able to get the weight off of me yet. I even gained 1/2 pound. I also like to nap more & don't like to get up in the morning, I'd rather sleep in, hehehe. Mama also thought that my hair was becoming a bit brittle which is another sign. So Snickers gets pink pills twice per day & I now get yellow pills twice per day. Does that mean we get more goodies??? NOT! Mama pokes the pills down our throat. We really don't mind her doing it and it takes less than one second. I'm sure glad Mama had my thyroid checked.
Our pal Clover told us today that I Butchy made the honorary mentions in the PetSmart Halloween Costume Contest & so did our pal Ruby Bleu!! They had our photos up on their web site. Congratulations Ruby!!
The mouse hunt still continues. We have captured 4 mice total now. One in the bucket & 3 in mouse traps. Those darn wild cats sure haven't been doing their job around here. Especially the black & white one that hangs around here night & day. Each time we look out the windows or go outside, the darn cat is out there. Wonder what it's been eating cause it sure hasn't been the mice. And look who's still on Mouse Hunting Strike:

Glad that you went for a check and the got the problem under control now with medication..
Check out my blog.. see if you can recognise if that cat is the same black and white cat that you mentioned. It might have come to Singapore for a vacation, that's why there are mice running freely!

Oh dear, poor Butchy. Now that you are on medication, you should start losing those extra pounds.
BTW I love taking pills. This is only because Mummy sticks the pills in a small sausage and gives it to me. She thinks I don't know that my pills are in it but I do.

sorry to hear about the thyroid problems, but glad that your mum was observant enough to get you checked out.
I think it is terribly mean not to be allowed to catch those mice though! My mum is just as mean - whenever I find one the cats have left behind she takes it away from me. Says that I am disgusting the way I roll on their little bodies. Not fair!!!!

Oh my...pills are much better in cheese or sausage or even just a piece of bread. Oh, and I'll take it if muzzer licks both sides. But she won't do that often. Only when I am really recalcitrant! She uses that word more for Teka than for me!

Face licks to you Butchy. The good thing is thyroid things can be controlled and you got a great mom who caught it early. So you just take your pills and you won't even notice!
That is what our mama does when we have to take medicine. She tried mixing it with our food but time n time again, we will spit it out.

our mom does pills the same way. it's less traumatic for all of us if she just shoves it down our throats and we hardly know what she's doing. she does weird stuff to us all the time.

My mama had a cat that had a thyroid condition and mom has one too - so we feel ya! Whenever I've had to have pills mom hides 'em in a piece of cheese by rolling up the cheese all around it, she calls it a "cheesy wonton". Of course I know there's a pill inside, but I usually just eat it to make her happy. :)
