WHEELY WEDNESDAY No 9

Hey Pals,
It's Wheely Wednesday already! Boy does time fly. I Josephine get to talk today since I'm the silly girl that got hurt last week playing on the bridge, tee hee.

See what happened??
I hurt my ligamananet, or something like that. So I have to wear a bandage for a few weeks. See the pretty bandage that I had Mama make for me??
I sure hope this heals soon. I want to play at Opal & Pearl's pawty on Memorial Day.

Last night some of the stuffies decided to sneak out & play while everyone was sleeping. Guess what they did?? A huh, they found Mama's collectible wooden wagon. Yep, and look what they were doing:
Digby, Blossom & Gertie were having a ball. They even talked TT into pulling them around the room. As I was spying on them I took a picture of TT pulling them, but the darn camera lost it. Geez, silly techinal stuff. Oh no, they heard me telling on them, I better get wheelin' outta here fast. See you next week!
Wheely Hugs!
Josephine
PS Max wasn't hurt last week, he just had a few bruises & is all healed up.

We Have Daylilies Coming Out Of Our Ears!

Hey Pals,
Hope everyone's weekend was fun. We had nice weather here in Iowa & we are tuckered out from all of the work we helped do around here. We actually think we have green leaves sticking out of our ears too. Is that like having a green thumb?? Well Mama must have a green thumb. We have so many plants & flowers around here that there is no room for many of them. Each summer Mama sells plants or something out here & lots of people stop to buy them. One year we sold koi & goldfish, another we sold waterlilies. This year it's Daylilies & other flowering plants. Every 3-4 years the Daylilies need to be divided. Well Papa thought it would take only a few hours to dig up & pot plants, hah! Boy was he wrong. They have been working on them for 2 days now & are only about half way done. So far they have potted over 250 pots of Daylilies & about 40 pots of other plants. Here are a few pictures of the pots. When everything is potted we'll take a few more pictures.
It's hard to see all of the pots cause they are lined up behind each other.
We sure hope Mama sells lots of these this summer. Hmmmmm, maybe she should start a nursery here too, hehehehe! Papa is taking a vacation day tomorrow & going to help Mama try to finish up potting the plants. We like that plan, we like Papa being home too.

Speaking of plants, we caught these bambi deer trying to munch on stuff out in the yard & out by the pond tonight:
Can you see the deer to the top of the photo?? The one with the fat belly?? She is a pregnant mama deer. She will be having her babies within 1-2 weeks from now.
Sorry the photos are fuzzy, it was very dark outside so Mama had to enhance the photos so you could see them.

There are 2 deer in this photo.
3 deer in this one.
Guess we better hit the hay & get some rest. We will have a busy day tomorrow again. We hope everyone has a great Monday!
Wirey Hugs!

WHEELY WEDNESDAY No 8

Hey Pals,

Max here today. Us wheelies got up this morning all ready to go outside & play cause it was going to be really nice today. Then guess what happened?? Can you believe that Butchy told us we have to work today?? What's up with that? He told us we have to learn Koi Guard Duty to help earn our sleeping spots in the house, hmmmmmph! Otherwise he told us we have to sleep out in the Fish Shack. We don't think we like that idea, we would be hearing all of those scawwwwie noises in the night, like bullfrogs, treefrogs, owls, deer, raccoons fighting, coyotes howling, yikes!
Plus Butchy had to chase away a Green Heron from the pond today. So he told us he needs some recruits to help him take care of Mama's koi fishies.

First he made us learn our positions:
I Max am on the biggest rock:
Here is TT:
This is Josephine:
Here we are in military line up to ward off those giant Monster Birds (Great Blue Herons). Butchy taught us how to trip them so they fall down, hehehehehe.

Then we had to learn all about the other creatures that live in the ponds. Here is a young bullfrog:
This is one of the big older bullfrogs:
Here is a brown leopard frog:
They sure don't look very fun to play with. Josephine is kind of scared of them. Do you know Josephine? She is our newest adopted wheely sis. She came from a broken home in the Netherlands & traveled all of this way to live here with us.
Here are a few pictures of her:

Well all was going well with our training so Butchy went up onto the deck with Snickers to take a nap. But a bit later Butchy woke up & found this:

This is Nigel:

This is Roxy:

This is Max:

Do I need say more why TT didn't go down the bridge???

Stay tuned for the next episode to see what happens.

IS SPRING FINALLY HERE??

Hey Pals,
Just take a look at these:

Don't they look yummy? Papa picked all of these Morel Mushrooms from our land. Mama cooks them up to eat. Hmmmm, they never give us any though. Mama told us that Spring is finally here since the mushrooms are growing. There hasn't been enough sun for them yet, as they are still fairly small.

The birds have been starting to pick out nesting spots now too. Here is a Cat Bird, it's in the burning bush outside of the kitchen window. Usually the Cardinal birds nest here, but we think the Cat Bird is going to steal the spot this year.
Here is one of the many Hummingbirds that found their way back to us again this year:
Mama has all 4 feeders up & filled. They empty them all every 2 days. They sure keep Mama hopping making sugar water.

Here are some of the Magonlia tree flowers:

The petals started falling off of the tree yesterday. It's almost bald today now. Below is the flowering tree that was bent to the ground from the hickory tree that came down in the big storm last year. You can see it's still bent to the right a bit, but we're really surprised it's not bent to the ground still.
This is our big flowering tree that is up near the front of our land:
This is our young Redbud tree near the ponds:
We helped Mama outside today. She worked on getting the pond pump running. There are lots of things to do for this. She had to put the bottom drain & hose into the big pond & then get the suction going in it and place the hose end inside the water barrel that is buried into the ground. Then the pipe from the barrel runs to the pond pump. Here is the pump:
It sits under ground also. Then the pipe from the pump runs all of the way up to the water fall at the top of the other pond. That's how the water circulates between the 2 ponds. The top pond then floods & goes down the stream, into the big lower pond. Here is the stream just getting going today:
Ok now, where are my bullfrogs?? They like to sit in the stream & I like to make them jump!
Are you hiding under the bridge Mr. Froggy??
Do I look like I'm helping?? I'm just here to look cute!
Whew, we had a long day outside & we're tired. So I Butchy decided I better clean up Snickers' face & then we'll take a nap.

Wirey Hugs!

Birfday Pawty Weekend At Dreamingspires

Hey Pals,
We're blogging from Aire-Ruby on our way home tonight from the big birfday bash pawty at Dreamingspires for Blue & Snowball's birthdays. Let us tell you, it was the pawty of the year! Please visit Blue's blog for several posts with pawty pictures from the weekend bash. Snickers & I were a bit worried that our wheely brudders & sissies might cause trouble at the pawty, but they actually behaved quite well.

On Friday we were all anxiously awaiting the arrival of Aire-Ruby to pick us up. The wheelies were so excited, they were watching out the door for the plane to land.

Where can Ruby be???
Oh our dawgness, here comes the plane!!
Should I push them all out the door???? hehehehehe! Mama, do they really need to go with us???
Here's Ruby, good thing she wore her coat, it got really cold here again...
Roxy had the other wheelies hook up to her so she could pull them to the plane.
Are you ready?? Lets go!
Snickers finally got her outfit on & followed the wheelies to the plane.
Oh no, we forgot to introduce you to the 3rd wheely in the lineup above. Here is his picture:
His name is Nigel & below is what he looked like when we adopted him:
Good thing Dr. Snitchybug lives here. She fixed him up in no time and he feels so much better now. We heard that Mama adopted another wirey stuffie while we were away, so when we find out the scoop, I, Inspector Butcho will fill you in on the details. Looks like Ruby is ready to land to drop us off, gotta go.

WHEELY WEDNESDAY No 7

Hey Pals,

Max here today.
Yesterday it was really nice here until later last night. We had another nasty storm and another inch of rain that we DON'T need. We knew we were in for a big storm because early yesterday morning those silly koi decided to start breeding in the pond. Usually koi will breed right before a storm. Don't know how they know one is coming but they certainly do. I guess they are trying to make up for all of the lost & missing koi huh?? Now there will be TONS of little babies within 4-5 days swimming all over.

Since it was so warm yesterday, Mama checked the pond water temperature & it was warm enough to bring our baby koi outside to the big pond that we have been raising all winter in the house. Do you remember those 12 little babies?? It was lots of work getting those fish out to the pond let me tell ya. Koi Mitch is certainly the biggest of them all! He is not quite 12 inches long & really heavy too. So I Max, head boy wheely, enlisted the help of one of my wheely brudders to help us carry the koi. This is TT:
TT is short for Trip Trap. He is a Schuco Trip Trap Mechanical Terrier & he is very strong.
I think he can even walk faster than I do.
See, he has wheels UNDER his feet. How cool!

video

Butchy sure has fun watching TT walk:

video
I guess TT passed Butchy's sniff test, hehehehe!

Anyway, here are the 12 koi that we have raised since babyhood in the house this winter:

Koi Mitch
Koi Teka on top, Koi Gussie on bottom
Koi Pacco
Koi River on top, Koi Simba on bottom
Koi Tman
Koi Hammer on top, Koi Jaffe Boy on bottom
Koi Lenny on top, Koi Lacie on bottom
Koi TinTin

Good news is that one of the ??? koi has been seen, Koi GirlGirl was swimming around today with Koi Princess Moosie. We also thought we MAYBE saw Koi Scruffy, but not quite sure yet. We'll keep you posted. Another end to Wheely Wednesday. See you next week.
Wheely Hugs!
Max & TT

RIP KOI

Hey Pals,
Can you believe the sun is out today?? and it's fairly warm here? except for the strong winds, but it's much better then having constant rain. Some of our flowers are blooming now so we took some pictures:
Mama likes these dwarf tulips because they have purple stripes on the leaves & the tulips come up each year here in Iowa.
These are some wild flowers:
This is one of our Nanking Cherry bushes. We have tons of these on our land.
Well, we finally have our koi list. We hate telling you which koi have died or are missing, but we wanted you to know since we name many of them after all of you our pals.

Here is the RIP list, these are koi that we have found dead:

Tanaka
Liberty
Asta NY
Maggie
Charlotte

This is the MIA list, koi that we're sure are missing, probably taken by mink or those darn blue herons:
Bandit
Sherman

This is the ???? we don't know list. We haven't seen these koi yet this spring, haven't found them dead so they could just be hiding yet. As the water warms up, more of the smaller koi start to come up to the top of the water. So that could be the case with these.
Luckie
Tosca
GirlGirl
Scruffy
Precious
Stanley
Asta DU

We also have one very sick koi, it's ICE T, Mama's most favorite big female koi. She has been hiding for a week now, so Mama's very worried that she will die. So please cross your paws for Ice T to recover. Here is her pic:
We're anxious for new babies to be born now this year. The koi will start mating very soon. We already have 20 pals signed up to have a baby koi named after them this year. So if you want one named after YOU, please let us know so we can add you to the list.

Here are some pictures we took today of the koi while they were eating:

This is BenBen:
This is Huskee Boy towards the bottom with Mikata above him:

We hope everyone is having a great weekend!
