BOOK REVIEW: SHOW DOG by Josh Dean

We just read a wonderful book called 'SHOW DOG' by Josh Dean, HarperCollins Publishers.

If you enjoy reading books, and love to watch dog shows, this book is for you!

The author Josh Dean follows 'Jack', Grand Champion Wyndstar's Honorable Mention, a beautiful Australian Shepherd through his trials of being a show dog.  From Jack's first shows all of the way to the Westminster Dog Show.

Josh presents an insider's view of the dog show world which covers nearly two years of victories and setbacks along the road to win Jack the title of Champion.  This book is a real life glimpse of what the dog show world is really like.  We learned many things about the shows by reading this book.  As you follow Jack from show to show, you feel the joy, stress and heartbreak along with his owner and handlers.

Zeek had his toofers cleaned this week and thank kitty paws all of his teeth were in great shape.  No bad toofers. His blood work was great too.  He's over 8 years old now.  We don't know his actual birth date, but we hope he has another 8 years of good health ahead of him.  We're so thankful that Waverly Pet Rescue was able to take him in and care for him for 2 years and that we were able to then adopt him a year ago.

If you have the time, love and resources to care for a pet cat, please adopt one!  There are so many that need good homes.

HELP WAVERLY PET RESCUE AT KATIE'S BIRTHDAY TENT SALE

Hey Pals,

It's me Katie.  Can you believe my 2nd birthday is coming up this February 20th???  I used to be a little fluff ball that fit into this pawple basket at 4 weeks old, now I'm a grown up girlie that weighs almost 15 lbs.

I decided that for my birthday, I wanted to do something to help the Waverly Pet Rescue here in Iowa, which is just north of us.  Waverly Pet Rescue is where we adopted our cat Zeek.  They kept Zeek in a foster home for 2 years because no one wanted to adopt him due to his age.  Zeek was 5 years old when rescue took him into their care.  He was age 7 when we adopted him and we've had him for a little over a year now.  He is a wonderful cat, we can't imagine why people didn't want him just because of his age.  He's still a young boy.

In order to help out rescue, I rummaged through all of Mama's collections she has here around the house.  She has so many and doesn't have room for them either.  So I let her keep some of her favorites and then took the rest of the items to sell at my BIRTHDAY TENT SALE!

There are plush Boyds - Moose, Lamb, Bunny, Bears, TY brand Moose, Lamb, Bear, Misc. Brand Fox Terriers, Lamb.  I also added the antique bears and fox terriers and the Mutton Hollow Critters that she has for her store.

I have the items divided up into different pages for the categories to make it easier for everyone to view.

For each item that sells, I'm going to give 10 percent to the Waverly Pet Rescue.  My TENT SALE starts today and will run through my birthday February 20th, 2012.

WINTER HERE TO STAY?

Hey Pals,

Well it looks like the normal Iowa winter is here for a while now.  It has been horribly cold since the last snow storm and it's only -1 degrees right now not counting the wind chill factor.  We have another snow storm on it's way.  We're supposed to get another 4-6 inches of snow tomorrow, uggggggh!  Our tootsies are going to freeze when we go outside to potty.

The bambi are sleeping on our land more, they like to curl up in our bushy areas to get out of the wind.  There were at least 2 dozen deer out there this morning.  We got pictures of a few of them.  It's hard to get a good photo with all of those darn bush branches in the way.

The open area on our largest pond is almost closed up now with these below zero temperatures.  The ice isn't very thick yet, so the deer walked around the opening, but didn't get close enough for a drink.  Think they figured out they might fall through.  They've been there done that before!

Our girlie cat Hootie is smart, she lays in a sun spot with the fireplace behind her to keep warm!

I think Sparky & I should find a nice sunny spot to go lay in and take a nappy!

THE STEELERS LOST!

Hey Pals,

Our team lost the football game Sunday night.  I Katie cheered & cheered for them, but they apparently didn't hear me.

or I'll bite you in the rear!

So much for that.  Sylvester and I were bummed they lost, so we took a nap together.
